urban salvage meets beautiful furniture with this hand crafted live edge coffee table. the walnut log was destined to be mulched, left after a small forest was cleared for a new neighborhood. i recovered the small log, cut it into slabs, and provided a place to let the very slow drying process take place. by slowly drying the walnut, the wood's figure and vibrant colors are enhanced, and it adds to the unique beauty of this piece.
as with nature, small blemishes remain including a small crack that runs most of the length. this crack has been stabilized with six maple dovetail keys. there are two maple dovetail keys in the top with four on the underside. the dovetail keys were laid in by hand and add both strength and beauty to the table.
the steel legs are extremely sturdy and can be painted to your liking. they are currently a matte navy blue.
the top is 38 inches long and 21 inches at the widest end, and the table is 18 inches tall.
